The concept

In simple terms, attestation is the process to get your documents authenticated to provide them a legal status. Notary Attestation

his is the foremost step for getting verification of personal documents. The attestation at this level is obtained from a local notary in the form of their signature or a stamp.

Home Department Attestation

After Notary attestation, the personal documents go through verification by the Home Department. It is only the Home Department that can certify personal documents, including marriage certificate and death certificate by issuing their stamp or signature.

SDM Attestation

The next verification step is by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. Sub-Divisional Magistrates are adjuncts of the Home Department, or in rare cases of the Human Resources Department.

MEA Attestation

This is last step of verification by the native government. The document is attested once the Ministry of External Affairs issues their official stamp at the back of the document.

Embassy Attestation

This is the last step of verification where the officials of the respective country verify the personal documents and issues their official stamp or signature on the document.
